Another thing that could maybe be called a "batting donut" method -

Take a few minutes and play with all the valves down (all 3 on trumpet, 7th position plus any triggers on bone, and however many buttons you got on tuba or euph). Just do some air slurs up & down, playing right down the center of the horn.

What does this do? It adds a lot more resistance, of course (in some ways like a regular practice mute, but the pitches are different). The pitch centers will seem much narrower, too -- buzzing just a bit off will crack the note, or at least make it sound really, really bad. Do this for a bit until you can play the harmonic series, then go back to the open horn.

Naturally, it's not my idea. I had heard that Torchinsky (I could be mistaken) teaches this as a way for better high register clarity, and I think it works well down in the middle and low as well.
