Doug indirectly raised an issue that I've been wondering about:
The owner of a tuba of the make and model that I've been thinking of owning may be selling his horn. However, he is a heavy smoker. I am put off at the prospect of breathing in his residuals, not to mention potential problems with valves, slides, etc. Is this a legitimate reason for concern? Would a thorough acid bath be called for and, if so, would it clear the horn of any of the remnants of the current owner's bad habits?
