Even though I'm all for doing "freebees" from time to time, this one pushed the limits a bit....
I got a call to do a German band job that was 3 hours away. The leader told me he would make it worth my while...famous last words! So I rode the bus up, played a 4 hour gig (good beer!), rode back for a total time of 10 hours. When I got off the bus, the leader handed me a CD of the group and thanked me for playing.
Well, I did another gig a couple of weeks later with my group and half the band was caught behind a accident on the beltway. So I put in that CD and it covered us for a half hour. So, maybe it was worth my time!?
