I must chime in on a couple of points. Hirsbrunner's biggest market is not the US. It's Switzerland and it's not making tubas. His biggest money maker is making student line trumpets, horns, trombones and tubas for swiss brass and military bands. He also only has 6 full time employees working in his very small factory. One day that I visited the factory 4 of his employees spent the ENTIRE day bending out the bottom bow for one brand new Hirshbrunner Grand Orchestral. Let me say that again, and entire day! The time, care and precision that they were taking certainly in my mind made it clear why they cost and take so long to build. IMO, the horns are totally worth purchasing and waiting for.
