the 184's pre-dated start of the stupid "S-model" distinction. IMO it'll be a mistake for them to try to market a student model 184, and then gouge the price of the "pro-horn" for an extra 15-20%, especially since the material cost for the few extra nickel bits and engraving couldn't possibly be anywhere near even 10% additional cost of manufacture.

1a)
the earliest of the 184's, like other same-vintage Mirafones (read early 60's) did not have nickel silver outer slides, had even fancier engraving on the bell wreaths, and were divine instruments.

2)
4-k-ish isn't out of line pricing, for these horns, regardless of what they'll "sell for later."

3)
