I use a Rudy 5/4 CC as my primary instrument in the Binghamton Philharmonic and I use my Rudy F in the Tri- Cities Cpera Orchestra. Rudys are free blowing and well built instruments. I can't count the times that I've met a fellow tubist and we swap horns for a few minutes, and as they play the Rudy they get this odd look on their face.....the old( Wow! this is a great horn! Why have I been using this xxxxx for so long?? You paid WHAT??) I try to keep up on other tuba brands. I'll drive to Dillons once a year and see what's new. I'm not saying everyone should own a Rudy, but I think everyone who is considering buying a horn should at least try one out. By the way, I'm considering swapping my 5/4 CC for a Rudy 4/4 CC, if anyone out there in tubaland is interested in such a thing feel free to get in touch with me.
