I do like Yamaha tubas, but I've played the 621 and it's really small. It's great for solo stuff, but for orchestra and quintet stuff it's just way too small. Bobo plays this model, but if you have a chance look at the Yamaha promo poster with him holding it and you will realize that he has had some major work done to it. As far as Don and Kelly, they plays a YFB- 822. These are really good F tubas, and I've played Don's and it is really amazing, he has also put some work into it (If you want some spec.'s, you can e-mail me) and on Kelly's website he talks about what he did to tweak his horn. You might be able to do a payment plan with a store to find the horn which is right for you and your needs, but if this one fills the bill, then go for it, but try not to let money be the biggest factor in your decision.
