I agree with you on the "ergonomics" of the valve cluster. Back in June when I attended a masterclass with Roger Bobo, he and I talked a bit about the 621. He loves the instrument and said he was glad that I had one, but said after years of playing it, he had similar complaints. His "new and improved" F is one-of-a-kind. He said its doubtful that Yamaha would produce it....their decision, not his. But it has the valve cluster turned more like the 822. Also with the cluster turned, it made the slides more open and easier to access.

I used to not like the 822 specifically because of that cluster being so foreign to me. But now, I'd love if I could have my 621's turned more like Roger's. It feels so much more natural.
