That's what an overhaul basically is. To get all the dents taken out, the horn must be unsoldered. Is the sousaphone silver plated or silver laquor? If it's laquor then you're going to need to buff that off before putting new on, which is no big deal, especially once it's disassembled. But basically, to unsolder it, remove all the dents, and relaquor it, it's getting an overhaul...when it's unsoldered, all stress on the valves can be taken out so they should glide. If they're old and sloppy, you might as well get them replated if you're going to spend that kind of money. So when you get it back, it's dentless, scratchless and perfect, that's an overhaul.
