Let me add a bit of confusion (or not) to this discussion. Bill Bell played all his years with Sousa on an Eb Sousaphone. He was first tuba. At the time this record was made, Bell shared an Eb sousaphone with the late George Black (Schwartz). It was kept in a locker at Grand Central Station to keep it available to both men. Since both men played the Rodeo, I don't know how the horn was shared or what they did so each had a horn. George never told me that aspect.
