These tuba stands also help for those of us on the other end of the spectrum. When I hold almost any tuba on my lap the leadpipe seems to be down around my chin. I can either have my leadpipe moved, use a tuba rest, or a cushion on my lap to raise the horn so the leadpipe is in a good position. Otherwise I am bent over to play, and this has the expected effect on my air velocity, volume, and sound.

I guess some of us were just made for a BAT.
