Hello All-

I play Euphonium in my high school band. I am a junior in high school and plan on continuing with music in college.

For the past 4 years, I have been playing a 4 valve Yamaha Euphonium. I like this horn a lot, I like the possition of the 4th valve and the fact that I know it so well.

My father plays a Besson Euphonium. He is trying to convince me that it is the wiser choice of the two. I have played this horn a couple times and I really like the rich, dark sound it produces. However, I cannot get used to the possition of the 4th valve.

I have asked my band director, private instructor, and Mr. M. Dee Stewart (Professor of Tuba and Euphonium at Indiana University) for advice. They all seem to say the same thing, that it is mainly whatever I feel comfortable with.

I would REALLY appreciate any advice you can offer!
