If you like the tone better, make the change! It'll take a little time to get used to the valve position, but it'll be worth it, if you like the tone of the horn better.
I have a friend who went from playing a 4-upright valve euph to a 3+1 Besson. It took about a week of consistent playing before he got comfortable with the other configuration, but from then on he never had to think about it again.
