If you want the worst horn I ever played against a value ratio it would have to be a Hirsbrunner F I played at a conference a number of years ago. Mechanically it was fine, but not only was it missing the register immediately below the staff, but it was missing part of the upper-middle register as well. In addition to that, it had a sound to it that sounded like a wad of tube socks was stuck in the bell. Maybe it had some manufacturing problems, i.e. solder blobs, misalignment, etc., but it was a terrible horn for the circa $8K pricetag. But you can't judge every Hirsbrunner by that example. That is why I think some of the old YBB-103's if in good shape and a good player to begin with are really pretty good horns, especially for young-uns. However, there are some lemons out there.
