This might upset some people, but I'm curious to see the response. I have been reading the threads on the TUBA vs ITEA controversy and the argument seemed to be that the big wigs in charge of TUBA/ITEA (and BBS patrons) wanted a more "legitimate", "professional" name and many defended the change by saying the TUBA name didn't do much to help our image, etc etc. However, after reading the strand on the Tuba tossing competition many spoke up saying the tossing competition, while other Instrument Conferences don't hold such types of competitions we as tuba players are special and different, etc etc etc. So the question is, why would the people in charge of the TUBA/ITEA (who surely had influence over the Finland activities) want to change our name for the sake of professionalism and then turn back to our roots and sponsor an activity that definitely doesn't help our image at all??? Love to hear some comments
