I guess the acronym "T.U.B.A." no longer passed the
politically-correct "sniff test". I have read here on
this BBS misinformed complaints about the use of the
word "BROTHERHOOD" ... and who could forget the post here on
this BBS by the host of the 2002 I.T.E.C. about his fears
that fellow faculty members might be poking fun at the
organization's name ??
A vote was called for the T.U.B.A. membership to consider
a name change -- and the membership elected to remain T.U.B.A.
I guess that wasn't good enough, because eventually a second
vote was called for ..... and (surprise, surprise) I.T.E.A was
in and T.U.B.A. was out.
I can only wonder if any consideration was given to the founders,
those exceptional musicians who worked so hard to organize and
make a success of the TUBISTS UNIVERSAL BROTHERHOOD ASSOCIATION.
