Why?

In other areas of music, especially rock, there are tons of people out there producing their own albums, writing their own songs, and marketing it all themselves. It makes me wonder, why does this not seem to be the case in the tuba world. Are the ones who might throw it out there afraid of the ones who might tear it down? I think it would be a hoot to do an album of original material and old favorites. Of course, I would have to sell a few copies to at least try and pay for some of it. I know I'm no Bobo, but I woud hate to draw the kind of flack that Brian Mixner did. I seemed like some people were pissed off just because he put something out.

If this doesn't make sense, it's late. Just a rambling thought.
