We can chaulk this up to the 'dumbing down' of world culture (read: Pop Culture). The music of the ages - Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, et al. - will endure. Even the music as late as the Beatles' early stuff, will be around long after Lynrd Skynrd, Iron Maiden, and the ilk are forgotten.
