Perhaps the problem mighten lie with your horn. Maybe you could try to ensure that when you slur, that you maintain a relaxed, constant airstream. To help enforce this, imagine that you are almost blowing in between the two slurred notes and try to almost glissando between the notes. This reason this problem could have disappeared on your teacher's instrument is that because the instrument "feels" so much better to play, you might have been playing with more confidence and using your airstream better. Just throwing a different angle on the problem....
