I used to have a 601.Nice horn,which I altered greatly to get what I wanted from it.I won 2 auditions on it.However it is a pain to play in tune.I didn't realize it when I had it ,but now that I have a better horn I don't think it is worth the effort.I would call Dave Fedderly he will steer you in the right direction and not rip you off.He is the tubist in the Baltimore Symphony and owns Baltimore Brass Co.

I added weight to the 601 and put a slide to kick out the 2nd valve,only way to get an in tune low f#.If I were you I'd stay away from the Cerveny's period unless it is a great one
