The Helleberg II Geib has the funnel shape as a regular H II. It's just that the part of the cup right by throat isn't so pointed.
Yes, a funnel contour is one of the characteristics of this mouthpiece there are others as well. Small changes can have big effects, and there is such a thing as as degree! Does a slightly rounded bottom make a Geib NOT generally funnel shaped? As it turns out, this shape happens to work well with rotors. Yes, you could use the mouthpiece on a piston horn but the effect isn't the same. Are you saying that some mouthpieces don't work better on some types of tubas than others? I happen to like the sound this mouthpiece gives with that type of horn. FWIW........ Moises
