Ziess tubas were imported in the early 70's and came from two manufacturers, Cerveny and Alexander. The Alexander model is usually a nickel plate.
I bought one of these as my first horn and it plays great. The only problem is the old linkage is noisy and clunky. If it has not been replaced, do it.
Dave Fedderly knows all about these horns - this was one of his first horns.
