When visiting a major european tuba maker recently I was amazed how much outsourcing was involved to produce a tuba, (esp standard models)ie Pre constructed bells, tubing sets, valves and valve castings, and lackering/ plating were all produced elsewhere by other specialist companies.
I was wondering if anyone knew more about these specialist manufactures and if any of these companies supply a large proportion of the well known tuba manufactures.
Is it possible (if I had the money) that if I bought a certain model from perhaps numerous companies I was essentially buying tubas made from the same pre-fabricated components but with diffent names?
