I don't see how it could make any perceptible difference. You could make a heavy collar to put onto a fixed-bell tuba to simulate the connection ring of a removable bell just to see what happens, but it seems like a silly exercise to me. I did speak to the tuba guy at Osmun once about a screwbell conversion for a tuba. He said he had made some for Sam Pilafian, who wanted the collar to be very heavy. Why not ask Sam about it?
