Have you play-tested a Schilke Helleberg? I found it to be somewhere in between the Conn-H, and the 7-B. It didn't seem to effect the bottom as much as the 7-B, but definitely smaller than a Helleberg. Felt really nice. Schilke also makes another larger mpc., but I can't quite recall the number. I want to say 67c4, but that's a Yamaha number. They are also less than 1/2 the dinero of a Laskey.

Also, I understand that Eliot has some new shanks with larger and smaller backbores available now. One of our local guys uses one on his 186 and really likes it.

If you haven't already, I would also look at the Dillon mpcs. on their website. They might have a happy medium for you.
