I went to the Brasswinds site since they are only an hour away. BBb's were anywhere from 1800 to 10k+ .... Do the larger one's require a lot more volume of breath and would be more suitable for short notes? Small one for longer, multiple notes? How much does tone quality or low range suffer with the smaller size? What is the ideal size 3/4 ? What price would buy a very good Tuba? At which price does the point of diminishing returns take effect? 2k=acceptable; 3k = good; 4k=very good; 5k=great; 8k=great+; 10k =great++; 11k and up= superb ? ? ? By getting a stand for it and displaying it as part of our interior furnishings, I could possibility spend about 3k for it. Too much? or if I save another 500 will I get a better horn? How much should a new Tuba hack spend?
