I'm a relatively new reader of the list & have already learned a lot. Thank you Sean for creating it & all of you posters - this is a great resource.

I'm a serious amateur adult player & play Eb & BBb horns. My playing primarily includes large (90 piece) symphonic band, 5 piece jazz ensemble & small chamber groups. After reading some of the posts on the Getzen G-50 I understand the horn can be played as a CC or BBb instrument. This horns sounds like it might work well for my various playing needs.

Does it really work as well as a BBb as it does as a CC? I sense most people are playing it as a CC. I would want to play it as a BBb. When converted to a BBb does it lose "anything"? I understand this horn can be built with a carbon fiber bell which is much lighter. As my jazz playing often requires standing this might be of interest, but wonder how well this sounds. Is it like a fiberglass sousaphone sound? Quality of sound is first and foremost for me so this is very important. I have not had a chance to play or hear one yet. Where are these horns built? Thanks for your insight!
