It's true that most of the orchestral literature can be played on a single trigger horn. The double trigger has only been common for a few decades now. Single trigger horns cost less and may play better than similar double trigger horns. Still there may be times when you will need a double trigger, and also that some other musicians might judge you by the equipment, rather than how you play. Nowdays you may not be considered "a contender" if you don't have a double trigger. So, consider a double trigger if your budget can will allow, or buy a good single and have a second valve added later. As far as the low B, some horns have a long enough pull to put it in tune. Old single trigger holtons, conns, (and Conn 88Hs too!) can be pulled far enough to tune a low B without a lot of lipping. Single trigger Bachs can not, as well as all of the Axial flow horns that I've seen.
