I don't know why everyone is turing their noses at this kind of music. Many orchestral transcriptions for band are very difficult. If you don't believe me, request an audition packet from a military band. The latest examples that come to mind are the examples from the Coast Guard band audition. In fact, 1812 Overture was on the list.
