I'm afraid I'm a stick-in-the-mud. I have always played BBb tubas, because that was what was available for my use. In all of the groups I've played in, a CC tuba was never a requirement for admission. And standard band literature is probably easier with a BBb tuba anyway. I have an Eb helicon I mistakenly acquired, that sounds great, but I haven't taken the time to learn the Eb fingerings. At this stage in my life, I guess I'm not really interested in applying new fingerings, whether CC, Eb or F, to the lines and spaces on the staff. But then there are all kinds of situations in the music world and if a CC tuba works better for you, by all means use it. This is a free world (mostly) and I'm sure we all try to adjust our music playing abilities to the situation at hand.
