This is sort of a continuation of a post below, in which the fellow was asking about red spots on his tuba.
This weekend I'll be going to a place where there are many older horns in a collection, helicons and the like from the early 1900s, and some may be for sale.
How will I be able to tell red rot from discolored bare brass?
If there are holes in the instruments, what is fixable and what should be passed up?
