My "utility" lathe?...just fine for shaving down rotor bearings, mouthpiece work, tubing work, makin' a few tuba valve stems, etc.

Hey, I've got an old long-bedded Craftsman WOOD lathe on which I installed one fixed center and one free center that I geared down super-SUPER low strictly to turn, mark, and straighten trombone slide tubes. Total expense: $50
