Jay,

How often do you use the cimbasso in general brass quintet playing, and what do you think of how it fits in this setting? The only reference I have for the cimbasso is the Canadian Brass recording, but that's limited to Renaissance sacred music.

You mention the cimbasso blends well with the trombones. I imagine that's because it sounds somewhat like a trombone. How would you describe its sound in contrast to the bass trombone?

Do you (or would you llike to) use the cimbasso in any of the orchestral literature where an F tuba is traditionally used?

What mouthpiece are you playing on your cimbasso?

Thanks,

Tony
