When it comes to placement of the mouthpiece on a person's lips. Everyone is different. I for example am 70-80% upper lip on the mouthpiece. So, if you get a good tone out of your embouchure, stick with it. As to "heavy" attacks, one of the best analogies I have heard is, attack the note like you are blowing out only one candle. It should help clean up the articulation. As to your embouchure changing when you hit that "A", don't worry. Every tuba player whom I've met had some breaking point when they need to shift their embouchure.
