I NEVER said the intonation on my (or any) Nirschl "stinks". If you're gonna quote me, please do so accurately. Here's what I wrote in May 1999 concerning the intonation on my Nirschl:
----------------------
Drawbacks: All these horns (there've been about 25 built so far) seem to have the
same intonation quirks: Low C is pretty sharp in relation to tuning C. Since
there's no fancy slide pulling to remedy this, it requires you learning to blow
the low C lower (not ideal...). Also, top-space G (and surrounding notes) is
REAL sharp. These tendencies remain, regardless of mouthpiece choice. That
being said, it's well worth dealing with the quirks. The tone is SO magnificent
on these horns, you'll never look back. Be prepared to wait about a year between
order and delivery.

ALL tubas have intonation quirks, but not ALL tubas "stink". Please take care when you attribute comments.
