I have noticed that many of the players I have heard play tuba that are characterized by a giant, broad, sound also have quite deep voices (the booming bass type). Personally, I'm a tenor and my sound on tuba is also not particularly dark. Do any of you experts out there believe that there might be a correlation between the two? My theory is that the size of the air column is larger for people that are natural basses and that they can move a large amount of air slowly, as opposed to me where to move a lot of air, I depend on high air speed.

Note: I'm not excuse hunting in the least...just trying to poll for comments.
