Well, they have invited Tom McCaslin to return for a 3rd year, and he has accepted. Very happy for him, but EXTREMELY upset with the committee. He did not audition for Tanglewood, but DID advance to the Semi's in the BSO audition one week prior to the Tanglewood auditions. With so few spots for young tubists in festivals, I think it's an outrage that they invited him back when 2 years is the maximum...especially when he didn't even take the audition! I believe he is one of only two or three brass players ever awarded a 3rd Tanglewood fellowship. What in the hell is the deal with the BSO and tuba auditions?
