The facility gained from switching will serve ANY musician well,
and most certainly develop a helpful sense about ANY aspiring music teacher.
Of course, switching to CC (and/or Eflat or F for that matter) is not the only way to gain such sense or facility, but it IS a very VERY good way to gain these qualities as a musician
Your direction to your student is right on the money,
as a musician I'd have been better off to have switched years sooner.
