So, set up your shindig and advertise it--in the Journal, on the ITEA website, etc. It doesn't *have* to cost a lot to put on a great event. You can probably find school, church, community center space cheap or free). Online advertising won't cost anything. Charge a small admission, offer modest refreshments (if you want people to hang out and talk) or break for longer for meals... You might be able to pick up local arts council funding for an event.
