When I was in the 21st Army Band Ft Lewis Wash 1964 we Trumpet players had to go out on the steps in front of the Command Center and play Revellie very early in the am. One wintry morning a player had the mouthpiece stick to his lip and he pulled off a chunk trying to release it.Someone looked up the rule book governing temperatures that are allowable to play in and what do you know. There was a rule stating that you did not have to play outside below a certain temp. I'm not sure if this is still true but from then on, at least until I left Ft Lewis, a record played Revellie out of louspeakers.
