In addition to the worn fabric (which I would rip out and replace with something retro), there are a few screws missing. A block in the center which holds the slide in place is loose (probably those missing screws - I haven't really looked) and is also worn. It might need to be replaced.

A pro would make it functional...I'd probably turn it into a "project".

There's a quirky little local music shop that I like to support when I have work they can handle (no - they don't get to work on my tubas). I'll give him a shot at it. He makes reproduction squeezeboxes and is good with wood and fabric.
