The point is not that the customer is REALLY always correct about everything. But while he may not be right about everything, the customer IS RIGHT about what he expects -- that comprises a lot of things: selection, quality, accuracy, price, and information, in addition to responsiveness. The customer's perception rules the day.

I've always held this axiom to be akin to another that my Dad taught me: "The boss may not always be right, but he's always the boss." In a sense, the customer is always the boss. He can hire (buy) or fire (take his business elsewhere).

Many of us do a LOT of our shopping via the internet, and have come to expect a certain level of responsiveness. While I have gotten that responsiveness from every music vendor I've inquired with, I simply take issue with the notion that vendors have the luxury of taking their time to get around to email when it's convenient.
