I owned a 45slp for about a year. In my opinion, it had the greatest color of sound with my playing of any tuba that I've tried. However, the BIG VALVE set was so much of a problem for me that I decided to sell the horn.

I played a Yamaha and liked it very much. But the sound is not nearly as colorful as that of the 45slp. If you could get used to the huge sluggish valves to the 45slp, I think that it would be the perfect quintet, solo and even upper voice in a large tuba section instrument.

good luck
