I recently stole this from a very good trumpet player/teacher: playing long tones, start on your middle G/F and alternate descending and ascending notes from that middle note. In other words: G-Gb-G#-F-A-E-Bb,etc. Go as low into the pedals, and as high as you can using this pattern. Keep the pressure to a minimum, throat open, take your time, keep the air flowing, you'll find you may get up there fairly easy.
