From the "Just when you thought you seen it all department". I got called to do a pick-up orchestra. The program is every piece you have never heard of by Roy Harris, IMHO, a second-tier American composer who blew it all on his 3rd Symphony. If you ever get to play "Freedom to Dream" and "Freedom to Build" along with his setting of "Johnny Comes Marching Home" try to get the music early(rental though, :-(). It is tricky and a little rangy. Great Tenor Tuba parts in all three(yeah for are Eupher brethren). If anyone has ever played either of these, I would like to know how you played the real fast arpeggios in "Johnny". Thanks in advance!!!!!!
