Last Saturday, the Oregon Festival of American Music closed its "On the Shoulders of Giants" series with the Harris 3. Under the direction of James Paul, Messrs. Doug Tournquist and Tyler Moline treated us to some really fine playing--yup, there were 2 tubas in the orchestra! A good show all around.
On a distantly related note, the afternoon session featured a lecture by Judith Still, daughter of William Grant Still. If you're looking for a fascinating speaker, she should be on your short list.
