the American $ is strong against Germany right now and German tubas are a great purchase.
Japanese companies when the yen was down did not drop their prices and kept raising them and so they are high still. They should have dropped them when the American $ was stronger but they chose not to.
Alot of reasons are used and decisions made based on manufacturing and marketing and not the $. For this reasons and alot of others too numerous to mention, the price is high at this time.
