Hi. A fellow tuba player and I have been taking really old horns and cutting them into different pitched instruments. Our most successful horn so far is cutting a Bb trumpet into an Eb trumpet (which was really just practice to help us with our tubas). We've been toying with tubas mainly and so far we've had some ideas. We've been thinking about adding tubing from a BBb tuba to another BBb tubas to create a FF tuba. We've also toyed with the idea of creating a AA tuba or a BB tuba (which sounds stupid, but think about how helpful an A clarinet is with sharp keys in an orchestra). But what we really have been trying to do is create an F tuba from a BBb. Is anyone else out there doing the same thing we are doing, or are my friend and I the only one's that have too much free time? If there is someone else doing the same, what have you made and what is the strangest that you have made?
