Cutting horns is never going to pay the bills. You must do something else (sell new instruments, repair, teach, perform, etc.) in order to supplement the income this may generate. I use the word may because there's no guarantees. For instance, there are many Dillon and Rusk cut tubas that I have liked, but I can name about as many that I haven't liked. For this reason, cut tubas are a tough business. No matter how much effort you put in, there will be a lot of problems, especially with the intonation.

As far as these ideas that you have, they may work, they may not. My guess is that they probably won't take on, seeing as how Roger Bobo's G tuba didn't really catch anywhere either. I haven't seen many BBb's cut to F. I've seen some cut to EEb, but not BBb. You're probably better off looking for big EEb's in order to cut to an F than a BBb.
