I dont want to flame, start a riot, or commence with violence of the verbal sort in any way, but the issue is once again not BBb vs. CC but, personal vs. school-owned.
A school owned horn, unless the band director has enough money in his budget to care for them properly (not likely), will obviously suck. Howeer, most school-owned horns are BBb, and thus we assume BBb horns suck. Well, guys who own their own horns my snobbishly go for the CC, and then when it plays better, say "i told you so." The trouble is, folks who own their own BBb horns also notice the difference. My 30 year old Miraphone BBb is still one of the best horns ive ever played (hence why i bought it). It may not look like some $7000 silver plated CC pro-im-better-than-everyone horn, but i know it plays as well.
Also, sometimes its the player and not the horn.
